Curious George has been successfully adapted into a major motion picture and an Emmy-winning television show on PBS. After the Reys escaped Paris by bicycle in 1940 carrying the manuscript for the original Curious George, the book was published in America in 1941. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. AGES 5-8 years AUTHOR Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. Before long, an encounter with a cute forest creature throws George into a chain of outrageous events that allows him to find a way to be helpful after all. But when George accidentally gets locked into the zoo at night, he has to use maps, landmarks, and his animal instincts to find his way out!
